Book Signing with Prof. Frank Manchel


Join us Sunday, November 6th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. as we welcome our friend, film scholar Frank Manchel, and celebrate his new book, Take Two: A Film Teacher's Unconventional Story. Part memoir and part history of film studies, Take Two draws upon Manchel's lifelong immersion in film and his experiences as a professor at the University of Vermont.

Spring Cocktail Party

It hasn't felt like spring so far, but hopefully we can remedy that with some boozy seasonal flavors.. Out with the old and in with some new spring cocktails, and we want you to try them all! 

What better way to welcome in our new menu than a cocktail party featuring all of our new spring drinks? We're opening the doors early to bring you some food, live music, and of course some delicious new recipes (and hopefully some sunshine!!). 

$20 at the door gets you a good taste of each of our five new spring cocktails, as well as snacks, accompanied by some smooth jazz. Queen City Brewery Tap Takeover

Here at Verita, we love to support our local breweries, and Queen City Brewery is one of our favorites!  That’s why we’ve teamed up with the lead brewers to bring the Queen City tasting room to you.  On March 25, Pizzeria Verita will be painting the tap handles black in our first ever Tap Takeover.  

All night, we’ll be pouring only Queen City beers, including some that are only available at the brewery.  Everyone’s invited to come down and meet the brewers, and enjoy some artfully crafted brews, great food, flights, and merchandise.

Festa della Birra

Did you miss your chance to get tickets to this year's Brewer's Festival? (You only had about 11 minutes) Don't feel like spending upwards of $70 on eBay for something that used to be $30? We feel your pain. Which is why we went ahead and tracked down a bunch of beer from many of the best craft breweries all across Italy! 

We've known for a while, but maybe you weren't aware that Italy has one of the fastest growing craft beer cultures in the world. With just over 40 microbreweries in 2005, brewing culture has exploded in Italy over the last few years, now boasting over 600 microbreweries. 

For the cost of $30 per person, we'll be tasting 8 very unique brews, most of which are very rare and difficult to obtain in the States. Each taste will be a 3 oz. pour and the cost will include a full 12 oz. pour from one of the four featured craft Italian draft lines. Our bar staff will be around the whole time to talk about each of the unique beers and their breweries. Of course snacks and awesome music are included.

We are looking for 25 qualified judges to help us vote in the winner of Burlington's Wine and Food Festival's First Annual “Great Shakes” Cocktail Competition. A $25.00 admission fee has you sampling 8 cocktails while enjoying Pizzeria Verita’s incredible pizza & Antipasti. Judges will be voting on creativity, taste, & presentation. We have 9 of the top bartenders from Mule Bar, Misery Loves Company, Guild, EB Strong’s, Single Pebble, Hen of the Wood, Café Shelburne, Bluebird BBQ & Juniper at Hotel VT competing for the top spot.

Brian, a Verità staff member and talented saxophone player, will play alto and tenor sax, and Mike will accompany the group on drums. Negroni Week Kickoff Tasting - A Verita Cocktail Experience

Negroni Week is a great opportunity to get people drinking a wonderful classic cocktail, while also donating to one of our favorite non-profit organizations. So, what better way to start off the celebration than a tasting that properly honors the cocktail's intrigue?

What: A tasting to celebrate one of the world's most illustrious cocktails by honoring its ingredients, history, and versatility.

Why: Because who doesn't love a good Negroni? Also, in the spirit of Negroni Week, 10% of the cost per person will be donated to Mercy Connections.

Frank Manchel Book Signing at Pizzeria Verità

It is our pleasure to host a very special event for a very special person. Frank Manchel, UVM Professor Emeritus of English and Film will join us on Sunday, February 9th for a book signing event. He will discuss his most recent addition to American Cinema scholarship, EXITS AND ENTRANCES: INTERVIEWS WITH 7 WHO RESHAPED THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN IMAGE IN MOVIES (Washington, D.C.: New Academia Press, 2013). This is a rare opportunity to hear through the author the stories of seven people whose insight and experience give us a glimpse into the intersection of race and reality in the American Film industry.

Proceeds to this event will benefit Mercy Connections, an educational values-driven non-profit organization living the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy with an enduring concern for women.
